Yusuke Urameshi recieves his third big case as Spirit Detective of Earth, stop four deadly beasts and an insect invasion they’ve sent before the entire population of Earth falls under their control. Yusuke won’t go in alone however, he’s got his friend Kuwabara, as well as Kurama and Hiei to help.

The fights with the saint beasts are interesting, though Yusuke and Kuwabara have the best ones. When three of the legendary beasts have been defeated, it seems like a sure victory, but Suzaku, their leader is no push over and he’s sent all those infected by his insects to kill Kayko. Can Yusuke defeat the most powerful saint beast in time to save her? If he can, will he have to give his life in the process?

This is the next part of the series, once again with fourteen episodes! Joined with his new crew, the recently recruited Spirit Detective Yusuke Urameshi travels through Maze Castle, fighting the Saint Beast, and then must rescue and ice apparition with the help of his best friend, Kuwabara, dealing with a strange human and demon alliance. The Dark Tournament is also introduced on this DVD, meaning the introduction of my favorite villain of the series, TOGURO! The Dark Tournament is the longest story of the series, so be prepared for a lot of new fights and new twists, and this part is better than the first saga. As the tournament continues, you begin to grow attached to it, and begin to realize the true glory of Yu Yu Hakusho, as it gets closer and closer to its peak. Overall, this is another excellent DVD, better than the first one in my opinion. So, if your collecting the new DVDs, don’t forget this one!

It’s strange, watching a movie about a time you never lived in, a culture you don’t understand, and music you never listened to. I may be unqualified to review Ang Lee’s “Taking Woodstock,” which tells the story of how that legendary concert came to be in the summer of 1969. As someone who wasn’t yet born when it took place, I can’t say that I related to anything being depicted onscreen. All I can say is, as a story with characters, I found it very entertaining. It focuses very little on the concert itself, but that’s okay because Lee wasn’t trying to recreate the “Woodstock” documentary released in 1970; he wanted nothing more than to present a light-hearted romp about the people who made Woodstock happen. He succeeded for the most part, even with the occasional lapse into contrived comedy.

Having gone broke in New York City, interior designer Elliot Teichberg (Demetri Martin) moves back home to the Catskills of Upstate New York, where his parents operate a failing, dilapidated motel. When he hears that a neighboring town refused to give a permit to organizers of a music festival, he offers the organizers a permit of his own, which he obtained by being the president of the Bethel Chamber of Commerce. He and the head organizer, the always relaxed Michael Lang (Jonathan Groff), then strike up a deal with local dairy farmer Max Yasgur (Eugene Levy), who agrees to provide his own acreage as concert space. Knowing that this venue could potentially attract thousands of people, Michael buys out the Teichbergs’ motel for the entire season. At last, Elliot and his family are making real money. Of course, they still have to cope with hippie overcrowding, protesting locals, and other technical and emotional woes.

This relatively simple plot is livened up with a slew of side characters. Elliot’s mother, Sonia (Imelda Staunton), is a Jewish Russian immigrant so desperate to avoid poverty that she doesn’t realize how her actions have been harming the motel. His father, Jake (Henry Goodman), also an immigrant, has long since come to believe that throwing in the towel is the only way to deal with his wife. Elliot’s best friend is Billy (Emile Hirsh), a Vietnam veteran who shows signs of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. A contemporary theater troupe, led by Devon (Dan Fogler), lives in the Teichbergs’ barn and occasionally perform at one of Elliot’s own “festivals,” which consist of nothing more than playing a classical record (although he does hope to attract a string quartet). Devon and his actors know how to make a lasting impression; they end practically every performance by stripping naked and dancing. Probably the most interesting side character is Vilma (Liev Schreiber), a transvestite ex-marine who volunteers as Elliot’s chief of security.

I probably would have enjoyed “Taking Woodstock” more had I been emotionally invested. But that’s hard to accomplish when you don’t have the first clue about what it was like to live in the 1960s. I saw this movie with my father, and while he never had the chance to attend Woodstock, he did have some experience with the culture. With that in mind, he assured me that this movie was a fairly accurate depiction of the era. There was, in fact, one joke I could relate to and found funny. As Elliot and Max survey the fields during construction, Max recalls witnessing a serious act of greed: “I saw someone charging a dollar to fill a water bottle. A dollar. For water. Can you believe it?”

All cultural and generational gaps aside, the film is an enjoyable experience, at times because of its depth of character, at times because of its visual components. There’s one great shot, for example, of Elliot riding on the back of a policeman’s motorcycle through an impossibly long line of people making their way towards the concert; it’s difficult to say whether or not this shot relied on CGI, especially as it widens to reveal how far the line of people extends, but I can say that, whatever techniques were employed, it was powerful, direct, and just a little bit funny. An obvious use of CGI can be found in the scene involving Elliot and a stamp of LSD. At one point, Elliot observes the crowd camped along the hills, which in this case are brightly colored and literally rolling, like waves. In some scenes, Lee relies on the same technique he utilized in “Hulk,” in which the screen is split into comic book panels. This is effective, but when you have three different conversations going on at the same time, it can also be distracting.

There are a few things left unexplained. The issue of Elliot’s sexuality, for example, is alluded to so delicately and infrequently it’s curious why it was deemed a necessary subplot. There’s really no way to account for Michael Lang, who’s so easy going and confident that it’s hard to take him seriously, especially when he bases his decisions on good vibes. And I can’t say I appreciated the aftermath of Elliot’s parents eating marijuana-laced brownies. Rather than going for something genuine, the scene instead goes for desperate, broad comedy, which goes double for Elliot’s mother since she’s usually a hotheaded worrywart. But on the whole, “Taking Woodstock” is a pleasant movie with fun characters and a decent story. I’m sure older generations who understand 1960s culture and know more about Woodstock will also enjoy this movie, probably more than I did.

The 60’s memoir Taking Woodstock is a story about how 20-something Elliot, son of a Jewish couple, was able to lure backers planning a music festival into the area where his parents run a `resort’ motel. The story begins in a conservative rural community of farmers and small town folk in scenic New York countryside. The narrative hub revolves around the relationship between Elliot and his aging parents who own the El Monaco Resort Motel, a deteriorating business on the verge of foreclosure. His mother is a bitter character who oversees the finances and ordering of the household. His father is a withdrawn, tired man bent from years of bearing the weight of silent compliance before his wife while attending to the motel’s maintenance. The townsfolk are a stagnant traditional group ekking out daily sustenance while news about the Viet Nam war, Arab-Israeli conflict and moon landing catch their attention in the background.

Into this languid summer come two key folk – Michael Lang and Max Yasgur. Lang is an imperturbable saintly visionary from the City with the faith and means to walk the key parties through messy negotiations. Yasgur is portrayed as an enlightened agrarian businessman able to envision qualities lost on his parochial peers and acumen to make this into a venture profitable for all.

There were initial clashes between locals and those part of early negotiating. However, once contracts were settled and the project began to unfold the momentum of the operation overwhelmed the situation. Construction crews, event planners and early arrivals for the festival descended. Masses of gentle folk grew daily until the entire region was gridlocked by thousands of `citizens’ of the `Woodstock nation’.

The carnival of freaks, politicos, quasi-psychotic acid heads, spiritualized bohemians and other assorted holy men and women were stereotypically characterized. Locals were bemused, perplexed, exasperated and offended, but most did not fail to succumb to the combination of gentle-spirited hippie culture and the financial boon that poured in.

One particular narrative episode captures the hippie mythos underlying the film’s vision. The preparations for the event are done. Elliot, his father and Vilma, a free-spirited transvestite providing security for Elliot’s family, stand overlooking a lake as nude bathers play openly. The first strains of Richie Havens move through the woods signaling the festival’s beginning. Elliot’s father nudges him to go and experience the festival. Elliot hesitates but Vilma urges him on, “Go” he says, “see what the center of the universe is like”. Elliot finds himself wandering among groups of camping hippies still some distance from the stage. He encounters a young couple who gently seduce him to drop acid with them. They retire to the interior of their bus richly decorated for inner space travel where Elliot is initiated in the ecstasy of cosmic visionary experience. Some hours later he emerges an awakened soul accompanied by the female consort. Still flashing in colors and serenity they make their way to a bluff overlooking the sea of people dotting the night with campfires. The view is rolling and undulating, wrapping around a vortex – the lighted stage in the distance. The lights, colors and liquid landscape coalesce in a visionary patterned dance around the pulsing brilliant core of illumination flowing from the stage. Space and time are lost in the enveloping ecstatic vision in the presence of the Center.

This scene is the sacramental center of the story. The whole event is actually a festive gathering to celebrate the eucharistic psychedelic ritual. Its enactment is the animus mundi, the navel of the world, around which the dance of being whirls. This entire countercultural phenomena is like a fountain of creative and colorful life flowing from the bellies of ecstatically enlightened participants. Bohemian and transient in nature it wanders about the land erupting into spontaneous happenings. This particular one, though `planned’, nevertheless exploded into unexpected proportions and intensity.

Of course this story is one in relatively recent history with many participants – and critics – alive and well. And the verdict of history has unfolded less graciously on subsequent events. This is not lost on the filmmakers who put in the mouth of a confident Lang plans of another festival of peace and love – at Altamont. The irony is not lost on those knowledgeable of the tragic events there.

Following this narrative peak the story winds down to address loose ends between Elliot and his parents. The windfall of the festival has paid off their mortgage with surplus and Elliot is free to complete the process of separation-individuation from his family.

It was a delightful film that will fade quickly from public attention, leave theaters and be on DVD shortly. For some who go it will be for a moment of nostalgia, an entertaining story resonating with faint longings that surface as one ages. For the counterculture youth of today it is not their history, it is the history of their grandparents. The heady excitement of the Sixties is textbook material to them and most are living out their own generational narrative. They have Burning Man, Goa, Ibiza, and elsewhere.

For some the longing pricked cuts perhaps more deeply. Sure enough it was a period whose potency faded with the passing decades. What seemed of cosmic significance at the time was swallowed in the relativity of social change Nevertheless, the glimpse into the white-hot core of mystery pulsing at the Heart of the Universe wouldn’t be extinguished. It is a core memory implanted somewhere deep in psychic regions.

After the ecstasy many wandered back into the enveloping social order of the modern world. Some were damaged and wandered for years. Some re-acclimated into the status quo, even `succeeding’ well at it. Some found creative paths integrating alternative spaces with demands of survival. Some became monks, roshis, gurus, disciples, teachers, and priests. None, however, whose hearts were pierced have forgotten when they were touched by the Center of the Universe.

Charlie’s Angels were wonderful because they were smart, attractive, and active. In Season Two, they play football, hang glide, ride horses, play tennis, sing, play guitar, ice skate, enter a beauty pageant, and so on. The Angels prove that they can hold their own, anywhere, anytime. Farrah Fawcett left Charlie’s Angels after Season One. Although she does guest star in the third and fourth season, she does not appear in the second season. She was replaced by Cheryl Ladd.

I am so grateful that Sony decided to release the second season of Charlie’s Angels on DVD! I pray they follow up with the three remaining seasons as well. Season 2 is my favorite season for a number of reasons. First of all, the tone of the series changed with the introduction of Kris Munroe. In Season 1 the episodes were much more adult oriented, but in Season 2 there was a blitz of toys being marketed towards kids and the show became a bit campy. Having a rookie Angel on the payroll soothed this transition, for with Kris came a sense of humor. Having posed for the extreme undercover roles of a toy mannequin (”Mother Goose is Running For His Life”), a clown (”Angels on Ice”), and a nudist (”Angels in Paradise”), Kris was clearly a team player. Cheryl Ladd proved her worth throughout the run of the series by allowing Kris to evolve from the spirited innocent who first bounced into the Townsend offices and into a more world weary mature woman by the end of Season 5. Her major turning point is depicted in “Angel Baby” in which Kris shoots a man for the first time.
In addition to Sabrina & Kelly receiving a new partner, the Angels performed some of their best detective work in several of the episodes, most notably in “Angels in Paradise” in which they go up against two rival Hawaiian mobs, stage a jail break, and rescue a kidnapped Charlie. Bosley also gets much more involved in the cases than he did on Season 1.
The picture and sound quality for this box set are better than that of Season 1, but I am only giving it four stars because Sony has done the unthinkable in editing two of the episodes. Instead of giving fans the series as it originally aired, the first two episodes “Angels in Paradise” and “Angels on Ice” are cut up just as they are in syndication. I was looking forward to this set mainly to have these two episodes as they originally aired. Let’s hope that if Sony does release Season 5, they do not cut up the first episode “From Street Models to Hawaiian Angels” which was changed to “Angel in Hiding” for syndication and is missing the most important scene in which Kelly & Kris learn that their suspect Julie Rogers is actually working on the same case as them.
Despite Sony’s extreme laziness with this issue of editing the two part episodes, I still highly recommend buying this DVD box set. As far as I’m concerned Charlie’s Angels was the greatest prime time drama in the history of television and am thrilled that new generations will get a taste of it via DVD.

The title STALKER is quite misunderstood because many think it is a translation from a Russian word that means ‘to stalk.’. Actually Tarkovsky’s script inserted the word STALKER thinking it was a catchy English equivalent for something like a Russian pathfinder or guide. In that context, the central character’s role is better understood, for he spends time leading the writer and scientist toward discovery and revelation, which they ultimately cannot achieve. STALKER is a masterpiece of imposed reality on the viewer. Make no mistake: this film is very difficult to stay with without your utmost attention. Little artifice, few physical elements, hardly any plot, STALKER exists as a journey that draws your mind, heart, and soul into the nature of human existence. Only those intelligent and sensitive enough to ride Tarkovsky’s waves of feeling, emotion, and thought can comprehend his message of possible salvation and redemption through love and persistent searching for human truth. The writing on the video box implies this is another sci fi film, but clearly it is not. Tarkovsky’s great films are mythical allegories in the tradition of Pilgrim’s Progress or Piers Plowman. For me, Tarkovsky is the ultimate challenge in intellectual film making, because he presents and discusses his ideas only in the context of the film itself, not just as a media vehicle to speak. What strikes me most is his absolutely consistent sense of pace in all his films: slow, deliberate, but fluid and highly organic. He is one of the few great masters of film as an art form.

This is a film about faith, divine grace and the fruitless vanity stemming from our soul’s original sin. To quote from one of the characters in the film,” My mind preaches vegetarianism, but my heart longs for a juicy piece of steak.” And this is the premise of the three characters journey into the Zone – to seek out their steak: to find the Room in the Zone that will grant them their wishes; and this coming from the very same people whose professions demands higher standards of moral living from them, careers that require them to preach vegetarianism. Of course they have failed in their lives professions, and the characters know this but their inner chaos stem from the private pains in their lives, their failure to live up to their calling and their denial/certainty about their indivisual failures and states of their tarnished souls. Although Stalker is someone who leads others into the the Zone as a guide, his purpose apparently being to help others obtain their wish and thus bring about happiness for others, yet Tarkovsky hints that Stalker’s outward explaination is dubious as he will not hesitate to make scapegoats and guinea pigs of his clients in the face of uncertainty and danger. As for Writer, he is, yes, a writer who is going into the Zone to look and beg for inspiration and faith in life as a whole; until Writer can obtain this wish, his cynicism and lack of faith can be summed up in one of his quotes:” A writer can only write about his readers.” Professor is a scientist whose reason for seeking out the Room is unspecified until at the very end of the film but I will not divulge his reason.He is a researcher who has to bear his boss’s fury and defintely hates his job at the lab. Many great cinematic moments are to be found in the film, in fact the film is one great cinematic moment non-stop, even after it ends, and this can be attributed to Tarkovsky’s brilliant handling of every aspect of the film; one can even go so far as to say that with this film tarkovsky proved that he is easily the Einstein of cinema. His vision is earth shattering, deviating almost completely from the original intentions of the writers of a novel on which the film was based. The ending when it is revealed the reason why one of the guides of the Zone hanged himself despite obtaining a wish from the Room will blow away anyone who lives in the frustrated knowledge of life and all our mortal desires as an empty vainity of vanities without the presence of God and selfless love. The editing, set designs, music and lighting, the human choreography, the wisdom and everything in this film qualifies it as the best film ever made. Totally original without trying to be. If you only watch one film for the rest of your life this has to be it! It will make you want to live better, stirring profound thoughts and feelings within you long after the film’s over. This is more than a film, it’s almost a miracle. The British label ARTIFICIAL EYE apparently has better English subtitles and shows the complete film without cuts unlike the American version, or so I read.

A hazardous wedding of wholesome classic animation, to adult and often dark-themed material. The risk paid off and the result is one of the greatest achievements of Disney Studios.

The animation here is first rate and the entire thing is shot like a live-action film with some fantastic long shots, gigantic theatrical panning and even at one point, during Quasimodo’s song “Out There” a realistic camera flare (I did a double grasp the first time I saw it!) Hunchback is filled with all sorts of tremendous “tricks” like this. Lighting effects here are nothing short of fair – often subtle they sometimes change in an instant dramatically altering the mood of the fraction. Frodo’s demonic song “Hellfire” is perhaps one the most imperfect and horrid moments to emerge from Disney and the animators let loose.

The prologue to the movie alone is a minor masterpiece and, like Beauty and the Beast, marvelously prepares us for the whirlwind of a narrative to bewitch spot.

The complaints about the singing and dancing gargoyles Victor, Hugo and Laverne, are simply wrongheaded. I read the Hugo classic too, and know they’re not in there. What the complainants fail to realize is these gargoyles live only in Quasimodo’s imagination. He invented these companions to ease an otherwise tortured, lonely, friendless life. The culmination of all of this becomes positive in the spectacular song “A guy like you” which finishes with pigeons flying and hearts and banners and ribbons and Quasimodo being eminent and then BAM immediately upon the conclusion of the final notes, the room becomes the same sunless, dank, splintering tower filled with relics, junk and heartbreak. It’s one of the movie’s most shattering effects.

While deserved praise goes to the animators and crew, the declare talent here is, in my idea, Disney’s very best. Tom Hulce goes to the very soul of Quasimodo and gives a performance that is as poignant and shattering as anything he has done (Hulce also happened to be the best Hamlet I’ve ever seen.) Sure lines (”I am a monster, you know”) will ring in my ear forever. Hulce has a splendid sing and renders “Out there” with such abandon and vigor it makes my hair stand on waste. In the unexcited “Heaven’s light” (which sequences into a radiant shot of the bells frantically ringing the opening theme), Hulce brings a fragility to such lines as “no face as frightful as my face, was ever meant for Heaven’s light” that only a heart of stone would not be moved. Switching from pathos to rage, Hulce lets us feel the hidden rage and exertion that this character also possesses. It is a truly considerable performance.

Demi Moore, Kevin Kline, Tony Jay, Paul Kandel – and the rest of the cast all sound at the top of their game creating amazing and luminous characters.

Alan Menkin and Stephen Schwartz catch to the heart of the matter with net and songs – a sound – that are as integral a fragment of the telling of this chronicle as the animation and voices.

Hunchback is a miracle of a movie!

It would not be hard to gawk a more difficult narrative line for Disney to adapt on cloak than Victor Hugo’s “The Hunchback of Notre Dame”, but that doesn’t mean it was a paddle in the park either. Not only is there the conundrum of how to produce Quasimodo suitable to his character and at the same time not so horrible in appearance as to frighten off youngsters, but how will Victor Hugo’s sunless commentary of 15th Century Parisian life, capital punishment and religious bigotry be accommodated? What of Claude Frollo’s lascivious desires for Esmerelda and wanton acts upon Quasimodo and gypsies? And that ending…a bit of a downer don’t you reflect? Well, contain it or not, Disney stays upright to each of these facets of the unique…with the exception of the tragic conclusion, of course.

Talking gargoyles aside, the film really does not do enough to accommodate young viewers (and perhaps it was a mistake to market this as a kid’s movie, but you got to sell those Burger King toys somehow!) . The villain (Frollo) is among the most immoral characters ever portrayed in a Disney movie, and unlike Jafar (”Alladin”) or Hades (”Hercules”), there is nothing comic about him. On the other hand, the animators went a shrimp overboard with Quasimodo, who kinda looks like a red-headed Chris Farley. And Phoebus has the personality of Al Gore…if he were any more wooden you’d have to check him for termites. Also, some very keen characters from the book are regrettably absent. Where’s Pierre Gringoire, Jehan Frollo, and Sister Gudule? Level-headed, the animation is breathtaking, and the finale is nearly flawless…preferred to modern version if you’re a sentimental fan of elated endings.

The movie contains a few hilarious subliminal references, as when Quasimodo (Tom Hulce) is dressed up briefly as Amadeus. The music is extraordinary and supports the film’s most compelling scenes: Esmerelda singing “God Support The Outcasts” while taking sanctuary in the cathedral, the counterpoint of Quasimodo’s “Heaven’s Light” to Frollo’s “Hell Fire,” and the heart-pumping salvage leisurely the finale. Probably would have been given a PG rating if not for Eisner’s influence over MPAA.

Now I haven’t seen the whole series (because it is not fully released in the US yet), Candidate for Goddess (also known as Piolit Candidate) is a large series. It is of a SiFi Drama about the human speed trying to cease alive in mysterious attacks from “Victim” (look the name, which most likely has hidden meaning) . In this battle humans consume robots controlled bewitch humans with EX power (actually it’s more like an evolved develop of human, which basically is a person with a self inhancing ability) . The main characters face internal struggles while trying to become piolits of Robots to build their colony. The robots themselves are also mysterious, especially the Goddesses. It seems to hint of the fact that they may not have been man made.

Altogether it is a immense series and I recomend it to anyone, however the 2nd eppisode in this volume contains a excellent amout of nudity that was edited out of Cartoon Network’s version. However it is not graphic (so it isn’t Hentai) also on the Cartoon Network version the cigarette has been changed to a tooth recall. (I notion this was notable to mention to parents)

I am what one would call a hard core anime fan, but unlike others I do not contemplate the extremely exaggerated “borrowed ideas” of what others discover to be suitable. The animation style is mixed 2D and 3D (similar to the contrivance Blue Submarine No 6 is (a miniseries that should be perchaced by all anime fans)

The music is very nice with orchestrated music and tremendous vocal music. It really makes the series even more delightful.

The English voices are not too dreadful, they are not of the noble caliber of Cowboy Bebop (which had the best dubbed voices for an anime), but they are not unsuitable and are aloof marvelous to hear.

Also, like I said, the epic is also fine, though from what I’ve heard it is a short series (of the OVA size, which is about 13 eppisodes) .

The extras are really spacious, however it is better on the second dvd where you collect to eye what it’s like to do the dubbing for the present the japanese stle.

The only main plight I notice is the translation errors in the english subtitles (though it doesn’t injure the fun in watching subtitled anime) and the fact that there are only three eppisodes per DVD. (which is why it didn’t gain a perfect)

All in all a very vast series that I’d recomend to anyone (over 13)

This series is the BEST!!! I have seen all the episodes shown on adult swim. I taped all of them and watched them over and over, but unfortunatly the tapes were corrupted and now I’m buying the whole series on DVD. The series isn’t a copy off of anything, but the only disappointing portion is that the series is slit off when it could have and should have gone a lot further.

I unprejudiced picked up this movie from Amazon on Blu Ray as this is truly a movie I can gaze over and over again. Specifically I savor watching this movie every year during the Holiday’s. The movie is truly a romantic comedy that will pull at your heart strings in one scene and then have you laughing hysterically in another scene. The movie follows multiple couples throughout London during the Christmas season as they all are looking for admire. Martine McCutcheon and Keira Knightkey are down lawful glorious and amusing in their respective scenes. Allen Rickman is broad as always as the boss of a little company. The stories of all of the couples are intertwined nicely. If for some reason you haven’t seen this movie yet you need to choose it immediately as it will be a movie you will consistently witness year after year. This movie is a must ogle during the Christmas season along with my other perennial current National Lampoons Christmas Vacation.

For the myriads of fans of the book, Agreeable News! Author Louis Sacher did the conceal adaptation, and Director Andrew Davis did an sterling job in creating the mood, leading his aesthetic cast of young actors, and being faithful to the spirit and actuality of the book.

Ironically, Stanley is falsely arrested for stealing a tremendous athlete’s shoes. He is given a choice of jail or Camp Green Lake. Stanley innocently notes he’s never been to camp before so—you fair know This Was Not A Excellent Choice. Camp Green Lake is on a parched and barren desert. The lake disappeared a century before. Stanley is indoctrinated by down-and-dirty terrible Mr. Sir (Jon Voight) who informs Stanley his days will be spent digging 5′ x 5′ holes to develop “character” and any misstep will bring him to the Warden’s (Sigourney Weaver) attention, a lady who coats her nails with rattlesnake venom.

His fellow inmates who like to be known as X-Ray, Armpit, Curved and Magnet greet Stanley with hazing and hard times. His only lawful ally is minute diminutive Zero (Khleo Castro) who wants Stanley to articulate him to read. The day-in-day-out work is filthy, backbreaking and endless. But Stanley is learning some secrets that might permit him to fracture the age-old curse of the Yelnats.

Mr. Davis tells us Stanley and Camp Green Lake’s history via flashbacks, and for the most piece does a valid job keeping the fable spicy, though it might be overly complex for younger viewers. So when they introduced the movie, I was quite involved. Fraction of me was hopeful it would turn out well, the other portion of me was skeptical that it would be anywhere come as valid as the book. However, my fears were dashed. This movie was Amazing!

The memoir jumps befriend and forth a tiny between three different tales — the account of Elya Yelnats, the main character’s “no superb, dirty-rotten, pig-stealing great-great-grandfather”; the yarn of Stanley Yelnats IV himself; and the narrative of a legendary outlaw, Kissing Kate Barlow. The three stories are interwoven quite ingeniously. In some cases, you aren’t completely distinct what the connection will be, but then when you gain out, it fits perfectly.

The legend IS slightly altered, of course, as most books-brought-to-movies tend to be. But it very considerable keeps the spirit of the recent book. The boys are very believable — I especially cherish Zero! Sigourney Weaver makes a wonderfully inferior warden. And John Voigt does a fabulous insane portrayal of Mr. Sir.

This movie will retain you laughing and piquant throughout. And if you enjoyed the book, you’ll like this film!

A blockbuster at the time of it’s fresh release (it was the second-highest grossing film of 1976), the third veil version of A STAR IS BORN has always divided critics and fans alike. Simply set aside, her Esther is a fully-realized, three-dimensional human being. Kris Kristofferson may not rep considerable respect now for his laid-back characterization, however, he’s always entertaining seek and displays a magnetic charisma here that he seldom displayed elsewhere in his career. Kristofferson actually received rave reviews at the time from Newsweek, Time, and even the Unique Yorker’s usually vicious Pauline Kael. Obvious, there are the usual tale-tale signs that mar all films from the seventies (namely grain and inconsistent sharpness), but the transfer is gigantic for a catalogue title that is over the 30 years worn. The 5.1 sound is exceptional even by modern-day standards.

As far as supplements, Streisand’s commentary is informative and titillating, although I would have loved to hear Kristofferson join her on at least some scenes. The wardrobe test reel is apt fun, and the 12 deleted/alternate scenes are gargantuan to have. I wish that the promotional television special “With One Inspect at You” and Streisand’s thrilling performance of “Evergreen” from that year’s Oscar telecast had also been included, but perhaps Warner Home Video could not pick up the rights. All in all, with stout report, exceptional sound, and a healthy fraction of supplements, the A STAR IS BORN DVD was well worth waiting for.

I highly recommend the disc to Streisand fans who will enjoy Barbra’s full-length film commentary, 16 shrimp of additional scenes (many previously unseen), and new wardrobe test footage. Of course, the movie itself in all of its remastered Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack glory sounds and looks as vibrant and possibly even better than it played in cinemas. The musical numbers and theatrical lighting are exceptional and features some truly classic Streisand singing on stage. With the inclusion of Barbra’s complete humming and acoustic guitar rendition of “Evergreen,” we finally have the opportunity to relish an otherwise unused musical number. Even her commentary is enlightening, revealing that Kristofferson had a first shot at the song’s lyrics but didn’t submit them until impartial a few years ago when he sent Barbra a framed copy. Missing is the ample Barbra: With One More Eye At You TV program on the making of the movie, copies of which have circulated among fan-collectors for years. The DVD would also be enhanced and appear more complete by a collection of photo stills, especially the noted Scavullo poster session, a staple on nearly all DVDs. Including the novel 4-minute theatrical trailer for ASIB as well as those for the previous two Star films with Garland and Gaynor is a nice touch.

When it comes to “Hannah Montana: The Movie”, it’s almost similar to what I had to say about “The Jonas Brothers: 3-D Concert Experience” in that these films are created for their fans.

“Hannah Montana” is a accepted children’s television exhibit with a spacious following and I have watched many television shows with my son and although I’m not as familiar with her music, every decade there are shows that will appeal to their young fans and many of those who scratch their heads and fair don’t glean why people gather it so entertaining. In the 80’s we had “Kids Incorporated”, in the 90’s we had “Saved By the Bell” and although Saturday morning teen shows and afternoon teen shows on network television are a thing of the past, these shows have continued on the Disney Channel and “Hannah Montana” is simply a celebrated series with a lot of merchandising unhurried the series and its star Miley Cyrus.

And those who are not fans, they are going to criticize and those who never cared for Hannah Montana or Miley Cyrus, it’s a given that they are not going to give a care for this film.

But how did I feel about the film? As a guy who tends to write a lot about teen or young entertainment worldwide, may it be their music or television careers, I enjoyed the film. Of course, it all comes from my knowledge of the series and luminous how quarky the television series is but also incandescent the difficult the character of Miley Stewart has in juggling both worlds of a normal teenager and a pop star.

But what I found more engaging is seeing Robby Ray stepping down and knocking Miley off her high horse. He notices that the fame is getting to her head and that if he doesn’t change things now, he’s going to lose that daughter who was always caring for her family and her friends.

So, when it comes to the dramatic scenes, I enjoyed watching that share. As for the music, this is more geared for her fans. Obviously, with her single “The Climb” and the soundtrack of this film doing so well on the Billboard Charts, it’s quite evident that she has a strong fandom of fans that are passionate for her music. The film is not “High School Musical” and every scene is fleshy of music and a small on drama, it’s quite the opposite where there are more acting scenes and music plays a more primary section towards the second half of the film. Also, you collect music from Taylor Swift and Rascal Flatts and both offer an incentive to check out the film as well.

There was a superhero-esque (or more like “Spider-Man 2″) type of storyline reach the destroy which I won’t regain into but overall, I affirm that those who have watched her television exhibit will bag out if Miley Stewart or Hannah Montana will be the last persona standing.

For the most section, I found the film to be delicious, fun and it was great to witness Miley Cyrus grasp on an emotional scene.
